India has recently experienced an outbreak of Nipah virus (NiV), with cases of hospital-acquired infection and nearly 100 people quarantined. Official news reports urgently indicate that the virus has a mortality rate of 40%-75%, and there are no effective vaccines or treatments; "early detection and early isolation" are the core of prevention and control.

Characteristics of Nipah virus
* High mortality rate: The mortality rate is as high as 40%-75%. Currently, there is no specific vaccine or treatment, and infection poses a significant risk.
* Long and insidious incubation period: From infection to the onset of symptoms, it generally takes 4-14 days, and can be as long as 45 days. During this period, there may be no symptoms, but transmission is still possible.
* Zoonotic: It can be transmitted across species. The natural host is the fruit bat. The virus can spread to other animals and humans through fruit bat secretions.
* Pigs are the key intermediate host: Fruit bat secretions contaminate feed, easily infecting pig herds. The secretions and excrement of infected pigs contain large amounts of active virus. Humans are easily infected through close contact with infected pigs.

Figure 2. Nipah Virus Transmission Routes
Nipah virus is a zoonotic disease. Its natural host is the fruit bat, and pigs are the key intermediate host. The virus can infect pig herds through fruit bat secretions contaminating feed. Humans are easily infected after contact with the secretions of infected pigs or the bodily fluids of infected individuals. The risk of covert transmission is extremely high, posing a serious threat to public health and safety.
Accurate Detection, Safeguarding the Safety Line
Given the high pathogenicity and covert transmission characteristics of Nipah virus, nucleic acid detection can be performed using the "Nipah Virus Fluorescent PCR Detection Kit (real-time PCR Nipah virus (NiV) Detection Kit)".

Friendly Reminder
Avoid contact with fruit bats, sick pigs, and other animals. Do not drink raw palm juice. Take necessary personal protective measures. If you have a travel history to an epidemic area and experience symptoms such as fever or headache, seek medical attention immediately and report it to the authorities.
